Dr. Frank Viggiano

Dr. Frank A. Viggiano, Jr. is a Professor Emeritus of Consumer Products at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Indiana, PA.

Dr. Viggiano created and instructed the only accredited Consumer Electronics course in the nation. He was the first educator to recognize the consumer electronics discipline, and in 1975 he devised the course and implemented the program within the university curriculum.  Dr. Viggiano also has taught Home Theater Design as well as Kitchen and Bath Design.  He has received the "Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching” several times in his career. 

He consults regularly for many companies in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He researches new technologies and innovations, tests consumer products, authors articles for trade and consumer publications, and is regularly quoted by authors in various media.

Dr. Viggiano has appeared on thousands of television programs throughout the U.S., Canada, and in 50 foreign countries. The professor reviews products on-air and provides information, demonstrations, product benefits, and purchase guidelines. Topics of discussion range from consumer electronics to outdoor power equipment, kitchen and bath products, home products, cameras, housewares, auto accessories, health and exercise equipment. His expertise crosses most areas of consumer product technology.

Dr. Frank appears on both television and radio across the globe.  He began his TV career as a regular contributor on CNN and Live w/Regis & Kathie Lee and can be seen currently on national TV (Daily Flash), CBS-TV Pittsburgh, CBS Radio, ABC-TV Los Angeles, CBS-TV Washington DC, FOX-TV Chicago, etc. He continues to freelance for all major networks in the US as well as the BBC in London, JADE TV in Hong Kong, and CTV in Canada.  Dr. Frank's reviews of new technologies are entertaining as well as informative.

For years, Dr. Viggiano has served as a judge for the CES Innovation Awards at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.  He was honored at CES in 2017 as one of three people attending every CES for 50 straight years.

Dr. Viggiano did his undergraduate work at Pennsylvania State University, received his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, and completed his doctorate (Ph.D.) in Communications & Technology at the University of Pittsburgh. He was awarded “Professor Emeritus” by IUP in 2007.
